Hurrah !!  Now that we have a new Shedquarters (with lots of space), we have decided that we'll open to all felt fans, buttonaholics, ribbon addicts and all other crafty peeps on a regular basis.

So, starting on Friday 19th April, we'll be open most Fridays from 10am until 2pm for you to visit our crafty paradise, have a cuppa, take a look at all of our lovely supplies, ask for advice, meet other craft addicts, maybe buy a few bits and bobs, swoon at our pink carpet and just generally have a nice time !!

We're back !!!

After taking the decision just before Christmas to stop posting on this blog, I have now done a complete u-turn and decided that we'll bring it back to life !!

It's extra work for me, but even though we have a blog on our website, I find that's very "business" orientated and this little old blog always let me post all sorts of random stuff on here including family stuff, holiday stuff and of course, business stuff.  And let's face it, constantly talking business does get a bit boring even though Blooming Felt business stuff is NEVER, EVER boring !!

I'm not sure how many of the people that read this blog also follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest etc and I suspect I'll be duplicating some stuff, but there will be lots of "new" stuff on here and as FB doesn't let you run competitions then we'll do them through this blog instead :o) 

So - we're back !!!

Hopefully you haven't abandoned us completely and it would be lovely if you could spread the word that we're back with "News from Shedquarters" and perhaps leave a little comment on this post so that we know you haven't forgotten about us.

If you don't follow us through other social media type sites, then you won't know that we are now stocking 1mm thick 100% wool felt !!  It has been a long time coming, but it's finally here - 30 colours at the moment, with the likelihood that we'll be taking the full 70 colour range from the supplier VERY soon 

And in my next post I'm hoping to have some even more exciting news to tell you.

Exciting News !

Remember, ages ago, I said we had some exciting news in the pipeline ??

Well, I can finally reveal what it is !  If you're one of our followers on Facebook or Twitter - you can switch off now because you will have already seen this news when I announced it earlier this week.  BUT, if you don't use either of those things social media type thingy's, then I'm REALLY excited to tell you that Blooming Felt are writing a BOOK !!!

I can't tell you how excited I am !!  I'm stunned that the publishing company that approached us at Ally Pally last year, want to work with us to produce a book stuffed to the gills with projects all designed and made by Blooming Felt !

I am even more stunned to think that in little over a year's time, there will be a book on the shelves of fantastic bookstores such as Waterstones, Foyles (and hopefully, lots of lovely independent bookstores) as well as online through Amazon, with my name on it !  It's bonkers, it really is !!!

We're hopeful that we can combine the launch of the book with next year's Knitting & Stitching Show so that we can sell copies of the book at the show and I might even sign a few !!!  

Form an orderly queue now !!

PS.  We're a bit stuck with choosing a name for the book.  So, if you fancy being in with a chance of winning a signed copy, all you need to do is make some suggestions for the name.  I'll be taking all of the suggestions along to the publishers on the 28th June, and if we pick the name you suggested, you'll be getting a signed copy of our book once it's published next year !!!  Get your thinking caps on and leave your suggestions as a comment to this post please  xx

Even more lovely kits !!

After adding the fantastic Christmas kits (courtesy of Bagladee - go check out her site - it's FAB!), I suddenly remembered our own very lovely felt ball & buttons necklace kits that were sat lurking in a basket in the studio!

Life at Blooming Felt has been so darn busy lately that there are rather a lot of things that need doing - stock sitting in boxes waiting to be loaded onto the website, out of stock products that need re-ordering, advertising copy, blog posts, Facebook and Twitter updates, website newsletters, tutorials, getting to grips with the impending VAT issue, blah, blah, blah

So, to make a start on it all I've put our kits onto the website and am telling you about it here ... that's 2 things ticked off my list !!

Just a real quickie - it's Sunday night, I've been updating the website for the last 2 hours and I need to have my tea !

A few new bits that I've added to the website today ....

Pottering

In between dispatching orders and attempting to build the new storage units, we've been busy chopping up bits of felt !

Lots of lovely new stuff !

In between sorting the new studio out, I've been trying to get some of the lovely new stock onto the website.

It's a slow old process photographing everything, then measuring it all so that I can get the correct details in the website description which seems to take me forever to think about what to write, and then uploading it all to the website, making sure it's all in the right categories etc. But I think I'm nearly there with it all. I won't go into a huge amount of detail here because my poor brain is getting a bit tired, so I'll just show you the photos which you can click on to be magically transported to that particular item on the website. OK, here goes :

The HUGE felt delivery arrived yesterday and I'm in the processing of updating the website with quantities of 4mm thick felt sheets, felt string/cord, felt balls, pebbles, stars, hearts and wool. All being well I should also be receiving another delivery next week which will contain grab bags and mini felt stacks and as soon as they get here, I'll update the website again with the restock.

Which reminds me .... the LAST POSTING DATE FOR EASTER IS TUESDAY 23RD MARCH. After that, the website will still be taking orders, but nothing will be processed until WEDNESDAY 14TH APRIL. I will be having a bit of a rest so apologise for any inconvenience that the delay will cause.

Things are happening in the studio - the outside step has been built and the carpenter is on the case with the workbench. Paul has put all of the Ikea units together and the electrician is due this week to fit the storage heater and then hopefully, by Saturday, I will have MOVED IN !!

I've started to put a few bits and pieces in there, but I wish I hadn't because now I'm working from 2 rooms again and it's a bit of a long walk down the garden every time I need some felt sheets or some wool ! Never mind ... not long now

I am an Addict

Yes, I'm afraid it's true - I am an Addict.

I am addicted.

I cannot help myself.

I try, I really do try, but I just can't help myself.

I have a pusher.

He sends me supplies and in with those supplies he puts samples. Samples of new stuff for me to become addicted to.

My problem now is that whilst I am an addict, I am starting to become a pusher myself ! You too will become addicted just as I am. But for that I make no apologies because I know that just like me, you can't help yourself either. And you will want and need my latest offering ......

FELT PEBBLES !!!

YAY - these are soooooooooo cool. I just love love love them ! What are felt pebbles? They're felt balls that have been squished down into a pebble shape. Simple ! Available in 20 different colours.

Felt shapes .... lots & lots & lots of lovely felt shapes all cut from my lovely thick handmade felt !!

I am in felty heaven. Give me the weekend to get this felted loveliness listed on the website and then they'll be all yours. EDIT: Saturday evening and they're all listed and available for sale.

BUT, in the meantime, I'm doing a freebie. Ooooooh - LOOK !!

Look what I've been doing this weekend (apart from cutting the grass) !

Cutting out felt gift tags !! Yep - this is one of the new product lines I mentioned last time and this is the one that relies on me producing it. I treated myself to a die-cutting machine recently and bought some gift tag dies and this is the result.

You get a choice of 2 shapes of tags - hearts and scalloped rectangles - both shapes are available in 20 different colours (the same as my 4mm felt sheets). The gift tags are cut from my 4mm thick 100% wool felt and are perfect for you to embellish with buttons, felt shapes, ribbons or to embroider if you really want to personalise your gifts.

Attach them to your gift with either ribbon or some of the new waxed cotton cord (6 colours available) which is another new line on my website.

I definitely want to see photos of your completed projects using all of the above - make sure you email them to me !
